So what is a freight broker?
Freight brokers help shippers that need to move freight from point A to point B by finding a carrier (trucking company) that will haul the freight for slightly less than the shipper is willing to pay them... thus the term BROKER!
In other words, freight brokers sometimes referred to as load brokers, truck brokers, or transportation brokers, are all middlemen that match available shipper freight with available trucks while earning between 10% and 35% profit per shipment.
That means brokers typically earn between $100 to $500 per shipment but I have earned as much as $5,175 per shipment just for finding a truck to haul our customer's freight!
Now the only question is how many loads do you think you can move per day... 1, 2, 10, or more? Before we get to that.

How much money can I make as a freight broker or freight agent?
If you are a motivated self-starter, your earning potential is virtually unlimited. While some people choose to work independently on their own, others opt for nationwide agent networking and maximum income potential. There are too many variables to consider to give you a one-size-fits-all answer. There are agents who earn as little as $100 per day working part-time, and brokers who make several thousand dollars per day. Ultimately, your success is dependent upon your level of ambition.
Do you offer job placement?
Of course not. Who wants a “job?” Our system is designed to take the “j-o-b” out of the equation and prepare you for self-employment by teaching you how to create work for yourself. In fact, you’ll learn how to reach for the other end of the spectrum by leveraging and multiplying your efforts.
Will I be a "certified freight broker" after completing this material?
Actually, you do not need a “certificate” to become a freight broker. Although you do need the proper “authority” which is a grant of legal permission issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
What about the bond requirement?
The freight broker bond is another area that we cover in great detail. Oftentimes, people are shoved through the paperwork process before they understand what's going on. Getting a bond is not difficult. But before you step out to obtain a bond, there are things you need to consider. Your bond can either cost you or pay you back over time. (See Section 1.8 Surety Bond Vs. Trust Fund, for details)
Do you supply the forms I will need to get started?

I live in Canada. Am I required to secure a property broker authority?
Yes. Canadian residents who wish to broker freight within the United States must also apply for their broker authority.
